In 2017, 23 U.S. DoD police officers were assaulted. Of the officers assaulted, 2 sustained injuries. All of the assaulted officers worked with the Department of the Navy. (See Tables 71 and 73.)

All of the 23 officers assaulted were conducting investigations or searches.

Weapons (See Table 75.)

The DOD reported the 23 officers were assaulted with other types of weapons that were not firearms, knives or other cutting instruments, bombs, blunt instruments, personal weapons (such as hands, feet, or fists), or vehicles.

Dispositional information (See Tables 71 and 79.)

Law enforcement authorities identified 11 suspects in the assaults on DoD officers; all 11 suspects were found guilty.
