In 2016, 25 U.S. Capitol Police officers were assaulted. Four of the officers were injured with weapons other than firearms. (See Tables 123 and 124.)

Type of activity

All 25 of the officers attacked were assigned to patrol or guard duty. (See Table 130.)

Weapons

Three officers were assaulted with vehicles, 3 were assaulted with blunt instruments, 2 were assaulted with firearms, and 2 officers were assaulted with knives or other cutting instruments. The other 15 officers were assaulted with other types of weapons. (See Table 127.)

Dispositional information

Dispositions were not reported for the 32 suspects who were identified in the assaults on U.S. Capitol Police officers. (See Table 131.)
