In 2015, 4 officers from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service were assaulted, and 1 of these officers was injured with a firearm. (See Tables 123 and 124.)

At the time they were assaulted, 2 officers from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service were conducting investigations or searches, 1 officer was assigned to patrol/guard duty, and 1 officer was performing other official duties.

Weapons (See Table 129.)

One of the officers was assaulted with a firearm, and 3 of the officers were assaulted with other types of weapons.

Dispositional information (See Table 131.)

Law enforcement authorities identified 3 offenders in the assaults on U.S. Postal Inspection Service officers. The following dispositional information was available at the time of this report:

  • 2 suspects were awaiting trial. 
  • 1 suspect was found guilty.
