Current Year Over Previous Year Arrest Trends, Totals, 2012–2013

  • The number of persons arrested in 2013 decreased 4.9 percent when compared with the number of persons arrested in 2012. The number of juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested in 2013 decreased 15.5 percent from the number of juveniles arrested the previous year.
  • The number of persons arrested for violent crimes decreased 3.9 percent from 2012 to 2013. When compared with data from 2012, the number of juveniles arrested for violent crimes decreased 8.6 percent.
  • The 2-year trend showed that the number of persons arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter in 2013 declined slightly (0.3 percent) when compared with 2012 data. The number of juveniles arrested for murder in 2013 increased 14.1 percent when compared with 2012 data.
  • The number of adults arrested for property crimes in 2013 decreased 0.2 percent in 2013 when compared with 2012 data. The arrests of juveniles for property crimes decreased 15.0 percent.
