Five-Year Arrest Trends, Totals, 2009–2013

  • Overall, the number of persons arrested in 2013 decreased 14.9 percent from the number of those arrested in 2009. The number of adults arrested declined 11.3 percent, and the number of juveniles (individuals under age 18) arrested fell 39.0 percent.
  • The number of persons arrested for violent crimes in 2013 declined 14.3 percent when compared with the 2009 number. Arrests of juveniles for violent crimes decreased 36.0 percent for the same comparison period, and arrests of adults decreased 10.6 percent.
  • The number of persons arrested for property crimes in 2013 decreased 7.1 percent when compared with 2009 data. Arrests of adults for property crimes increased 3.3 percent, but arrests of juveniles decreased 39.4 percent.
  • Arrests of adults for robbery offenses decreased 15.4 percent and arrests of juveniles for the same offense declined 35.3 percent in 2013 when compared with the 2009 data.
  • Arrests of persons for larceny-theft decreased 5.1 percent in 2013 when compared with data for 2009. Arrests of adults for larceny-theft rose 5.7 percent, but arrests of juveniles for this offense decreased 39.6 percent.
  • The number of persons arrested for motor vehicle theft in 2013 dropped 15.5 percent when compared with the number of persons arrested for this offense in 2009. Arrests of juveniles for motor vehicle theft fell 38.1 percent, and arrests of adults for the same offense decreased 8.1 percent.
