Each year, the FBI publishes data concerning bias-motivated offenses reported by law enforcement to gauge the scope and nature of hate crime in the nation. This report chronicles crimes that were motivated by bias against race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity/national origin, or disability. Tables include information about the types of offenses committed, some traits of the victims and the offenders, and aggregate hate crime offense counts by state and agency type.

Data availability

The 2012 edition of the annual report Hate Crime Statistics is tentatively scheduled for release in November 2013.

Available formats

When the data become available, data users will be able to access the information by viewing it on the Internet and by downloading Adobe Acrobat files and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. A press release will be issued concurrently with the publication Hate Crime Statistics, 2012.
