Current Year Over Previous Year Arrest Trends, Totals, 2009–2010

  • The number of persons arrested in 2010 decreased 4.5 percent when compared with the number of persons arrested in 2009. 
  • The number of juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested in 2010 decreased 9.7 percent from the number of juveniles arrested the previous year. 
  • The number of persons arrested for violent crimes decreased 5.3 percent from 2009 to 2010. 
  • The number of juveniles arrested for violent crimes in 2010 dropped 11.6 percent when compared with data for 2009. 
  • The 2-year trend showed that the number of persons arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter declined 8.3 percent, and the number of juveniles arrested for this offense decreased 7.1 percent. 
  • The number of adults arrested for property crimes in 2010 decreased 2.3 percent, and the number of juveniles arrested for property crimes decreased 12.0 percent when compared with data for 2009.
