Five-Year Arrest Trends, by Sex, 2011–2015

  • In 2015, the number of males arrested decreased 13.6 percent, and the number of females arrested decreased 8.6 percent when compared with arrest figures from 2011.
  • The number of juvenile males (those under age 18) arrested in 2015 dropped 36.0 percent, and the number of arrests of juvenile females fell 35.9 percent when compared with the 2011 data.
  • An examination of 5-year trend data indicated that the number of males arrested for violent crimes decreased 6.1 percent, and the number of females arrested for these offenses declined 1.8 percent.
  • The number of males arrested for murder in 2015 rose 0.8 percent when compared with 2011 arrest data, while the number of females arrested for murder in 2015 decreased 1.8 percent.
  • Arrests of juveniles for violent crimes decreased for both genders in 2015 when compared with data for 2011. The number of arrests of juvenile males dropped 24.5 percent; the number of arrests of juvenile females fell 22.7 percent.
